Finding Symmetry

27 Apr 11

In advertising we’re always trying to find truths and create natural connections that people can relate to. We love Everynone’s newest video that explores these kinds of connections in everyday life. Much like their previous project “Words”, filmmakers Will Hoffman, Daniel Mercadante and Julius Metoyer III use their simple, yet beautiful style to unite otherwise unexpected images and present them in a way that shows their parallels.

One Word Can Last A Whole Week

6 Apr 11

You know I love words. I’m in awe of the beauty, the power, the wonder of words. I am amazed how one word can say so much and others so very little. I’m fascinated how a combination of letters can make you feel something or do something. And so it follows that I am in love with Upword: A Weekly Word Designed To Inspire.

Each week I get an email from author and creator Lori Koop announcing the word of the week. Recently, the word was “Adventure,” one of my all-time favorite words. I love how she connected adventure to truth, one of Sawtooth’s favorite words and the essence of our philosophy.

I discovered Upword in a blog post from Seth Godin. Thanks Seth.

What are your favorites words? How do they inspire you?

Lightning And The Power Of Words

23 Aug 10

I’ve always been fascinated by words. I love reading, writing and playing with words. I love speaking them and hearing them. And as a writer, I’m so aware how changing just one word can change so much.

Mark Twain once said something about words that is one of my favorite quotes ever: “The difference between the right word and almost the right word is the difference between lightning and the lightning bug.”

So when this video titled “Words” popped into my inbox this morning, thanks to Very Short List, one of my most cherished daily emails, I clicked on it right away. For me, it’s a tribute to the beauty and power of words, a montage of shades of meaning. I say it’s lightning.

“Words” was directed by Daniel Mercadante and Will Hoffman for Everynone in collaboration with WNYC’s Radiolab and NPR.

The Importance Of Prooffreading

16 Aug 10

This was painted outside a “shcool” in North Carolena. Too things are bad here. One, that it was done outside a school and two, that no one took the time to prooffread it. Especially as the last strooke of white, reflective paint was applyed.

As an ad agency we take painsstaking care in proofreading everything that leeves the building – from an email to an ad. We route an ad many, many times before meterials are released. Including sending work to our freelence proofreader just for a quadrouple check. Because you just want to make sure that who is ever reeding the words you wrote are perffect not prefect.
