This Sunday is the 83rd Academy Awards. While we are looking forward to finding out who the Academy will select as the winners, we are far more interested in sharing who Sawtooth thinks will win.
We asked some of our movie-loving ‘teeth to share their picks in a few top categories. Truth be told, we’re also dying to try these nominee-inspired hors d’oeuvres.
Here’s what the Sawtooth Academy has to say:
Best Picture:
The Sawtooth Academy Predicts The Social Network
Because it’s so watchable and well-cast. I could watch it a hundred times. And it has some of the best one-liners of the year. -Amy
Because it has such a huge influence on our society. Over 500,000,000 people use Facebook throughout the World! -Jason
I thought it was really well written and an amazing look into the back-story of Facebook. Even if it’s not 100% accurate! –Elizabeth
I just thought this was an awesome movie. -Adria
Actor in a Leading Role:
The Sawtooth Academy Predicts Colin Firth
He was amazing. All King George VI wanted to do was please his father and prove he was not an embarrassment to the crown. He is really the only reason I wanted to see The King’s Speech. -Nicole
Who doesn’t love him? -Elizabeth
His performance of playing a stuttering King is genuine and realistic. –Dawn
He puts a lot of other actors to shame. –Richard
He was great in The King’s Speech. –Adria
I loved his transformation. He is one of the most eloquent, effortless-seeming actors and he played a king whose every word was a struggle. -Melissa
Actress in a Leading Role:
The Sawtooth Academy Predicts Natalie Portman
Hands down. She was absolutely amazing and completely believable as a young girl totally losing her mind. –Elizabeth
She gave the best mental and physical performance of the year. –Dawn
Two words. Star Wars. –William
I thought her performance in Black Swan was great (and I actually saw this movie, unlike some of the others). -Adria
Other Sawtooth Academy Contenders
Best Picture
The King’s Speech: It’s a classic Hollywood picture and besides it’s British. -Dawn
The King’s Speech: It’s one of my favorite themes: student discovers potential with help of an unlikely teacher. I loved everything about it especially how it made me feel: inspired. -Melissa
Toy Story 3: It was an amazing story with a well-planned plot and a happy ending. And no one else has an EVIL DR. PORKCHOP!!!! -Nicole
Inception: Because it’s the only movie nominated I actually saw. –William
The Fighter: I felt like I knew these people or knew people like them growing up. -Richard
Actor in a Leading Role
Jeff Bridges: Because he is the man. –Jason
James Franco: Because he was hilarious in Pineapple Express. -William
Actress in a Leading Role
Michelle Williams: I think she is the underdog in the category. -Nicole
Nicole Kidman: Because of her reputation. -Jason
We’ll be back Monday to give props to Sawtooth’s winners and to weigh-in on the Academy’s selections. Til, then enjoy the show.
